Convert Partition Table Disk GPT to MBR

Windows XP tidak dapat membaca HDD dengan Partition GPT, solusinya dengan men-convert Partition Disk menjadi MBR. Langkah-langkah :

1. Ketik DISKPART pada Command Prompt, pada prompt DISKPART lakukan 2-8.
2. DISKPART > list volume
3. DISKPART > select volume n (n adalah no volume HDD yang ingin di convert ke MBR)
4. DISKPART > delete volume
5. DISKPART > list disk
6. DISKPART > select disk n (n adalah no disk HDD yang ingin di convert ke MBR)
7. DISKPART > convert mbr
8. DISKPART > exit (untuk keluar dari DISKPART), kemudian format HDD di My Computer

Removing the Windows XP

1. Log in to your PC using an account with administration rights.
2. Open the Start menu, type “regedit” into the search box and press enter.
3. Navigate to the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents” directory in the registry.
4. Double-click on the registry entry labeled “OOBETimer.”
5. Change the current string of letters and numbers to “FF D5 71 D6 8B 6A 8D 6F D5 33 93 FD” and then hit “OK” to save the settings.
6. Right-click on the “WPAEvents” folder and select “Permissions.”
7. Deny permission access for the “System” listing and click “OK” to save the configuration. The Windows XP® activation notice is now disabled and removed. Your computer will now be activation popup free!

Windows XP : Blue Screen UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

File BOOT.INI sistem windows rusak atau boot sector hardisk rusak.

• Boot ulang komputer dengan CD installer Windows XP
• Ketika pilihan “Install” dan “Recovery Console”, pilih “R” untuk masuk ke recovery console
• Bila muncul pertanyaan mengenai password, masukkan password administrator, akan muncul command prompt “C:\>”
• ketik di command prompt C:\>CHKDSK /P

Proses checking dan repair akan dilakukan, dan setelah selesai akan ditampilkan report dari hasil check dan repair. Bila diperlukan, setelah proses di atas ketikkan C:\>FIXBOOT, untuk memperbaiki boot sector. Ketik EXIT, dan windows XP akan kembali normal.

Windows XP : Reset TCP/IP Configuration

Setiap melakukan installasi ulang driver LAN (Network), IP address yang pernah kita input selalu tercatat. Sehingga apabila ingin diset dengan IP yang sebelumnya digunakan akan muncul peringatan yang menyatakan IP Address sudah di assign pada konfigurasi sebelumnya. Solusinya dengan menjalankan perintah dibawah dengan Command Prompt :

netsh int ip reset reset.log

netsh winsock reset catalog

Windows : Show COM Port

Langkah-langkah untuk cek COM Port :

1. Start > Settings > Control Panel > System
2. Tab Hardware
3. Klik Device Manager
4. Cek bagian Ports (COM & LPT)

Atau lebih mudah dengan menjalankan command script (dibawah) yang disimpan di ports.bat and drag ke dalam quick launch bar :

reg query HKLM\hardware\devicemap\serialcomm
pause

Jadi setiap kali klik “ports.bat”, Anda akan mendapatkan list semua COM Port.

Windows XP Service Pack 2/3 Halts on “Checking Product Key”

If you’re installing Windows XP Service Pack 2/3 and it halts or hangs on you while it is allegedly “Checking Product Key”, you can fix it like so:

1. Please go into the CMD prompt (Start/Run –> cmd.exe )
2. Then type cd /d %windir%\inf and make sure we are in that directory.
3. Then type ren oem*.inf oem*.old, it will go back to the prompt after giving you some error (Do not worry about it)
4. Then type ren oem*.pnf oem*.old1, it will go back to the prompt after giving you some error (Do not worry about it)
5. Then goto start – run – type “%windir%\inf” and you will see the files in the folder.
6. Then find the file by name INFCACHE.1 and take a backup of it to desktop (by copying it to desktop) and delete the INFCACHE.1 from c:\windows\inf.
7. Close all windows and reboot the computer to safe mode and start the installation of SP2 and it should go fine.
